Two days ago, SMU running back Zach Line was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to America’s outstanding collegiate football player. Now, two more players have been nominated to the watch list for the top award given to their respective position.

SMU wide receivers Cole Beasley and Darius Johnson were named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given each year to college football’s top wide receiver. There are a total of 75 players named to the watch list for the award.

Last year, Beasley, who will be a senior this year, started all 14 games for the Mustangs. He caught 87 passes for a total of 1,060 yards and six touchdowns.

Johnson, who was a sophomore last year and will be a junior this year, is the expected heir to deep-threat Aldrick Robinson. Last year, Johnson had 78 catches for 845 yards and six touchdowns. He was also named team MVP in SMU’s loss to Army in the Armed Forces Bowl last year.
