Vickery Meadow Market To Launch September 21

White Rock Local Market (WRLM) in partnership with the Vickery Meadow Improvement District (VMID) and Half Price Books launches Vickery Meadow Local Market Sunday, September 21 at the NW corner of Half Price Books flagship store on Northwest Highway.  Dallas’ newest local farmer’s market will set up every Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. through December 14.

Vickery Meadow Local Market will bring healthy foods as well as arts and crafts while developing new opportunities for urban and rural producers. White Rock Local Market, VMID and other organizations will work together to create a market that reflects the rich cultural diversity of the neighborhood.

“We are looking forward to the new Vickery Meadow Local Market and our partnership with the Vickery Meadow Improvement District as well as Half Price Books,” says Sarah Perry, Director of White Rock Local Market and affiliates.  “Farmer’s markets inherently nurture a community through social interactions while providing small businesses the opportunity to grow - which is in line with the mission of the VMID.”

Vickery Meadows Local Market is currently seeking vendors for the initial season.  To apply go to www.whiterocklocalmarket.org.  Half Price Books is located at 5803 E. Northwest Highway.

The Vickery Meadow Improvement District is a dynamic partnership of property owners, all working together to deliver a variety of improvements to the neighborhood.  Bordered by Northwest Highway, Skillman, I-75 and Royal, the community is about three-square miles. This convenient location and dense, urban residential population, make Vickery Meadow a perfect host for a new market.

A vibrant celebration of community and neighborhood, WRLM and affiliate markets strengthen the local food economy and create awareness of the social, environmental, and health benefits of eating local foods.  Artisans, farmers and ranchers are located within 150 miles. WRLM incubates small businesses and provides crucial support to small farmers.  WRLM hosts a community garden as well as workshops and field trips for kids and adults.

White Rock Local Market is a 501 c(3) tax exempt organization sustained by contributions and memberships.  Individual memberships for 2013, from Seeds ($25) to Beyond Organic ($1,000) and everywhere in between are on-sale now at www.whiterocklocalmarket.com.  Membership benefits vary.
