U.S. News and World Report have released their list of the 2012 Best Colleges in the United States and SMU has landed in the top 100. SMU is among six major universities in Texas to be named in the top 100. The Mustangs landed at No. 62.

Rice University leads all Texas school at No. 17 in the nation. The University of Texas at Austin is a distant second at No. 45 while Texas A&M University just edged out SMU at No. 56. Baylor University ended up at No. 75 while SMU's cross-town rivals, TCU, barely squeaked into the top 100 at No. 97.
