I’m here to announce our 2020 Greater Keller Women’s Club Shining Star.
Shining Star is an award given by the Arts Council Northeast to recognize
outstanding volunteers in the community. GKWC has had a yearly Shining Star
since 2002 with Linda Bowden being our first Shing Star.
It is with enormous pleasure that I announce this wonderful lady today. She is
far more than simply a volunteer. She is a leader, a supporter of women, a
mentor for women, a tower of strength and a pillar of our community.
Everyone can recognize her by her beautiful smile.
She joined GKWC in 1991 and immediately jumped into the role of Treasure.
She has held numerous roles on the GKWC Board including President (95/96)
Finance Committee and Treasure. She has been on the GKWC Foundation
since 1998 as Director and is currently serving as President. She has been deeply
involved in every Garden of Roses event and was a co-chair in 1998. She was
the Gladys Barrett award winner in 2003. Her dedication to our club is
unmatched. In our community she is active in her church, Shriners and Fort
Worth Women’s Club.
For the Bowden, she was instrumental in getting our beautiful building ready for
opening day and dedication. She could be seen on the construction site
wearing a hard hat ensuring all was right. Everywhere you look in this building
you see her hard work. She is a dynamo and a life force.
In honor of our 25th Anniversary of the Garden of Roses it is my extreme
pleasure to announce Debbie Reynolds as our 2020 Shining Star.
