The Mocky Horror Picture Show roasts 'Super Mario Bros.'

Tickets are $14 at The Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff.

Computer animated “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” debuts April 7 in theaters, and in its honor Dallas-based comedy troupe Mocky Horror Picture Show will screen and send up “Super Mario Bros.” (1993) – a pixelated, live-action, box-office bomb starring Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo as Luigi. Mocky Horror’s show is 9:15 p.m. Thurs., March 23, at The Texas Theatre.

The Mocky Horror Picture Show (mockyhorror.com) features comedians Liz Barksdale of Irving, Danny Gallagher of Addison and Albie Robles of Irving making jokes at bad movies. Throughout the movie, special prompts appear on the screen that tell the audience when to yell pre-written lines and throw stuff at the screen so they can make fun of the movie with them.

Tickets to the roast of the first movie about Nintendo’s Goomba-stomping, high-jumping Brooklyn plumbers are $14 per person and each guest will receive a bag of mystery props to use during the movie along with other surprise Super Mario and Mocky Horror swag.
