SMU equestrian ranked No. 9 in Varsity Equestrian Coaches Poll

The SMU equestrian team has recently been ranked No. 9 in the nation in the Varsity Equestrian Coaches Poll. This is the highest ranking the team has achieved in school history. The Mustangs are 5-1 so far this season with their only loss coming against No. 5 Oklahoma State.

"We are really excited to be recognized for our great start to the season," head coach Haley Schoolfield said. "We've worked really hard this year and have had some great performances. This is something the team really deserves."

Freshman Emma Roberts has led the charge for SMU this year; she is perfect on the season with a 5-0 record and has earned two MVP honors over fences. Two sophomores, Lauren Hogan and Julianna Fischer, have also been doing their part. Hogan is 5-1 while Fischer is 7-2 and has also earned an MVP performance.

The Mustangs have a tough task ahead of them with No. 4 South Carolina coming to BuckBranch Farm on Friday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m.
