Get Up and Get Ready For Some 2011-2012 SMU Basketball

Expectations are skyhigh for the 2011-2012 SMU men's basketball team after their most successful season in a decade. The team recorded its first 20-win season and first postseason bid since 1999-2000. The Mustangs managed to advance to the semi-finals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). SMU was at the top of Conference USA in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and free throw percentage.

While the Mustangs have graduated center Papa Dia and point guard Derek Williams, they'll still have 3-point sharpshooter Robert Nyakundi and speedy guard Rodney Clinkscales to take over leadership. The players still have one more month before the season starts on November 11 at Moody Coliseum when the Mustangs play host to McMurry University.

SMU will also participate in the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, as well as in The Showcase at the American Airlines Center against Oklahoma State. In total, SMU will play 14 home games, eight of which are conference games.

The pressure will be on for the team to prove that last season wasn't a fluke and to do even better this season. To see the team's full calendar, check out the team's schedule.
