SMU Students Construct a "Living Village" on Campus

Students at Southern Methodist University are pitching in to help construct a Living Village on the school campus. The Living Village project, which began on Monday, April 16 and goes for the entire week, is designed to quickly build shelters for refugees or rapidly expanding populations.

The Living Village is the main centerpiece of SMU's Engineering and Humanity Week, which is now in its second year at SMU. The students that are building the shelters are also living, cooking and sleeping in them. The students will experience first-hand life without electricity or running water.

Swing by the Living Village project, which is located west of the Engineering Quad on campus, for a glimpse at life for those less fortunate and to provide support support and encouragement for the participating SMU students.
