West Nile has claimed another Dallas County resident’s life — this time in the 75225 ZIP code, which is shared by the City of University Park and the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas.

It was reported Tuesday that a woman in her 80s, who resided in the 75225 area, died after contracting West Nile, bringing the total amount to 11 deaths in the county this year because of the virus, according to Dallas County Health and Human Services. The latest victim reportedly had underlying medical conditions.

So far this season, Dallas County has had more than 260 human cases of West Nile.

Because of the virus, the City of University Park and a number of surrounding communities elected to undergo aerial spraying, which began last week, in an effort to help stop West Nile from spreading.

The City of Dallas has more information on its website about West Nile and what is being done to help prevent the virus.
