A work crew is currently in the process of extending the Southern Methodist University parking lot on the southwest corner of Dublin Street and University Boulevard across from Burleson Park, which will increase the current 221-space lot by 54 spaces.

The lot is used by SMU students and faculty members while school is session and by people who attend Mustang football games during the season.

Because the parking lot is located in a residential neighborhood, "motor coaches" cannot park in the new portion of the lot, including during football season, because University Park residents who live in the area expressed concerns about RVs staying for extended periods of time, such as days or weeks.

As a part of the expansion, an SMU sign will be constructed on the corner of the lot near the Dublin Street and University Boulevard intersection, and other landscaping upgrades will be done to the area.
