The 2012 Summer Olympics begin on Friday in London, and a number of current and former Southern Methodist University students will be competing at the games.

Here is a list of Mustangs who will be participating in the Olympics this year:

  • Laura (Reback) Bennett — The triathlon team for the United States.
  • Johan Brunstrom — The doubles tennis competition for Sweden.
  • Anja Carman — The 200-meter backstroke for Slovenia.
  • Lars Frolander — The 100-meter butterfly for Sweden.
  • Sara Nordenstam — The 200-meter breaststroke for Norway.
  • Nina Rangelova — The 100-, 200- and 400-meter freestyle events for Bulgaria.
  • Mindaugas Sadauskas — The 100-meter freestyle for Lithuania.
  • Denisa Smolenova — The 100-meter butterfly for Slovakia.
  • Therese Svendsen — The 200-meter backstroke and 4x100 medley relay for Sweden.
  • Danielle Villars — The 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle for Switzerland.
