Experience an evening of bold and immersive sound as the Meadows Percussion Ensemble presents three powerful works by leading contemporary composers Christopher Cerrone, Alejandro Viñao, and George Crumb. Directed by George Nickson and joined by mezzo-soprano Evi Anderson, this concert explores the dramatic, expressive possibilities of percussion in dialogue with the human voice.
The program opens with Cerrone’s Goldbeater’s Skin, a work of striking intimacy and intensity that blends voice and percussion into a richly textured sonic landscape. Alejandro Viñao’s Estudios de Frontera follows, bursting with rhythmic drive and cross-cultural influences, pushing the ensemble to the edge of virtuosity. After intermission, the concert will finish with Crumb’s Kronos-Kryptos, a haunting and theatrical meditation on time and myth that fully surrounds the listener in sound.
