Based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel, Ragtime is an epic, sweeping musical that weaves together the lives of a Black pianist, a Jewish immigrant and a wealthy white family at the turn of the 20th century. Featuring a powerful score, this co-production with Dallas Theater Center—directed by inaugural director of SMU’s Sexton Institute for Musical Theatre, Joel Ferrell—explores race, class and the promise of the American Dream in a moment of immense social change. This show is a co-production between SMU Meadows and Dallas Theater Center.
