The Meadows Wind Ensemble announces an electrifying and innovative concert season, Escape Velocity — six concerts of unstoppable energy that push the boundaries of the modern wind ensemble and chamber orchestra. Over the course of the season, works by historic visionaries and contemporary voices will be featured alongside world premieres by creative young composers as well as performances by dynamic concerto soloists. The first concert of the season kicks off with thunderous energy featuring music by Augusta Read Thomas and Andy Akiho, Olivier Messiaen’s iconic OiseauxExotiques, and closing with Louis Andriessen’s raucous and unforgettable Workers Union.
