The SMU football team (5-2, 3-1 Conference USA) had their five-game winning streak last week by the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The loss also pushed the Mustangs into third place in the C-USA West behind No. 17 Houston and the University of Tulsa. This week, the Mustangs will have the opportunity to move back up in the rankings when they travel to Oklahoma to play Tulsa on Saturday, October 29.

If the Mustangs hope start up another winning streak, they'll need quarterback J.J. McDermott to revert back to the quarterback that torched TCU and UCF a few weeks ago. Last week against Southern Miss, McDermott completed only 16 passes for 173 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. It was McDermott's first loss as the starter for SMU and was also his worst performance of the season.

Running back Zach Line has gashed opposing defenses all season long and is currently the No. 11 rusher in the nation with 118.29 yards per game. On the season, he has rushed for 828 yards and 13 touchdowns. Although Line wasn't able to break into the endzone against the Golden Eagles, he did rack up 163 yards on the ground on 22 carries.

Against the Golden Hurricane, SMU's passing offense should be able to exploit one of the worst secondaries (No. 117) in the nation. The reemergence of the passing game should open up the run game for Line. However, SMU will still enter the game as 3.0 point underdogs to Tulsa.

Kick off for the game is set at 2:30 p.m.
