"Our Slippery Mother Tongue: A Light History of the English Language"

Dr. Engel, who has served as a professor and lecturer at UCLA where he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, is the author of several books which have been published in the US, Japan, England and Turkey. Widely recognized his concentration in Dickensian Scholarship, Dr. Engel received North Carolina's Adult Education Award and has been inducted into the Royal Society's of Arts in England for his academic work and service in promoting Charles Dickens.

Tuesday, March 26 at the University Park Public Library, 3rd Floor, 8383 Preston Center Plaza (between Hillstone and R+D Kitchen).

Light bites 6:30 p.m.; lecture begins at 7 p.m.
