We invite you to an evening with Dr. Andrew Solomon on October 12 in the McCord Auditorium, located in Dallas Hall 306. There will be a reception at 4:30 pm and the event will start at 5:00 pm. Dr. Andrew Solomon is a writer and activist in the fields of culture, psychology, LGBTQ rights, mental health, politics, and the arts. He is Professor of Psychology at Columbia University Medical Center and former President of PEN American Center. His best-seller, Far from the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity, won the National Book Critics Circle Award and has become a documentary film. His memoir, The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression, won the National Book Award. Solomon holds a PhD in Psychology from Cambridge University; an MA in English from Cambridge; and a BA from Yale. He writes regularly for The New York Times; The New Yorker; Travel & Leisure and many other publications. He is the father of two children, and lives with his husband in New York City and London.
