SUMMARY:Time as Material: Anthropology Lab Tour and Commun
DESCRIPTION:The "Time as Material" Dedman College Interdisciplinary Institu
te Research Cluster's end-of-year event combines two experiences: a guided
tour of SMU's Archaeology Research Collections with Drs. Matthew Boulange
r and Kelton Sheridan\, and a live aluminum pour at the Owen Arts Center F
oundry with visual arts faculty Emily Budd\, Kerry Maguire\, Dana Buzzee a
nd Martha Poggioli.  \n   \n The ARC houses over 60 years of archaeologica
l collections from SMU research programs — artifacts and materials that do
cument human activity across centuries. At the foundry\, artists and facul
ty will guide participants through the full casting process\, from prepari
ng molds to pouring molten metal into forms made from objects you bring. B
oth halves of the day center on the same question: what do materials hold\
, and what happens when you work with them directly.  \n   \nAll participa
nts must register in advance due to space and safety limitations. Capacity
is limited.  Any SMU community member with or without experience is welco
me. Registration is on SMU360.  \n   \n More information and registration
instructions can be found here:  https://smu360.smu.edu/tam/rsvp_boot?id
