If You’re A Writer: Bubblelife.Com Seeks New Neighborhood Editor To Fill Immediate Opening

If you’re a writer who cares about healthy communities, who wants to get out from behind a desk to report and photograph stories in the neighborhood and who likes connecting with readers through social media, BubbleLife.com may be the employer for you.

BubbleLife.com, the leading provider of neighborhood news in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, has an immediate opening for a full-time Neighborhood Editor—a job with benefits.

As larger local newspapers and TV stations continue to trim the size of their reporting staffs, shrink the size of their media platforms and focus their resources primarily on the “big story,” BubbleLife is on a mission to save neighborhood news.

We currently serve 18 neighborhoods in the D/FW area and will soon be expanding to additional locations.  We deliver local news through our network of BubbleLife.com news websites and daily newsletters. We also strive to increase the customer base of local merchants by connecting them with our neighborhood readers.

A Neighborhood Editor is responsible for multiple duties for his or her BubbleLife communities, including, but not limited to: writing compelling local features and taking photographs; curating content from multiple local online news sources; maintaining social media platforms; and updating and adding calendar events and business directory listings.

Potential candidates must be willing to get out from behind the desk and interact with the public in each of his or her communities in order to create and nurture relationships with local community members.

Applicants must be self-motivated and have a flexible schedule to allow for some breaking news coverage.

The successful candidate should reside in the immediate Dallas area. Generally, the reporter will work in the field in his or her community except on Fridays when, from noon to 5 p.m., he or she will work from the BubbleLife office in Dallas.

Qualifications:

*College degree in journalism or related field

*Excellent writing skills and writing samples/clips

*Passion for local reporting

*Previous journalism experience (college experience counts)

*Strong technical background

*Valid Texas driver’s license

*Ability to master web-based content management systems

*Experience with digital photography

*Expert knowledge of AP style

The position includes benefits.
