This could be the year that SMU rises back up into national prominence. Already, multiple sports experts have predicted the Mustangs will outright win Conference USA. Rivals.com, one of the most respected college football sites on the Internet, has also predicted SMU as the winners of C-USA by projecting the Mustangs will play the University of Kentucky in the Liberty Bowl.

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl pits the No. 1 team in Conference USA against the No. 8 team in the SEC. Last year, the University of Central Florida - which defeated the Mustangs in the C-USA Championships - defeated the University of Georgia by a score of 10-6. That victory helped land UCF in the top-25 in the nation in the end of season polls.

SMU fans hope the Mustangs can do even better.
