Theatre critic and legendary director Harold Clurman described Bertolt Brecht as “hot under the collar and cool in the head.” In this extraordinary reworking of the martyrdom of Joan of Arc, the innocent heroine, here named Joan Dark, battles meatpacker Pierpont Mauler, who opines, “This arm-twisting is not all the fun I thought it would be.” Upon its 1993 premiere at Yale Rep, The New York Times praised the play as “…a good workout for the senses and the soul” – of which Brecht, the self-described conservative anarchist, would have

approved. For more information call 214.768.2787.
