Free Learn to Row Day, Saturday, May 16, 2015

White Rock Rowing is hosting a Learn to Row Day, Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., a free day of instruction at the big Boathouse on the southwest shore of White Rock Lake.

“Whether you are a student or an adult who might be thinking about rowing as a competitive sport or simply a source for recreation and fitness, we invite you to come out and get acquainted,” says Alex Binkowski, director of White Rock Rowing.

Learn to Row Day offers a fun opportunity to meet coaches and crew, tour the boathouse, learn the basics and get out on the water for a test drive.  Contact Coach Binkowski at alex.binkowski@whiterockboathouse.com with questions.

About White Rock Rowing

With the juniors team finishing a busy race season, and soon to travel to US Rowing Youth Championships, White Rock Rowing has capped off another successful season. In April, Tommy Patterson took first place in the Men’s Varsity 1x at The Oklahoma City Invitational Regatta, while the Women’s Novice 8+ won gold in their competitive event. At Heart Of Texas Regatta in Austin, Alex Newman, John Clifford, and Julian Delbano, and Austin Owen finished second in their heat in the Men’s Varsity Lightweight 2x, and the Men’s JV 2x respectively, finishing 4th overall in a very competitive field. White Rock Rowing masters continue their winning streak bringing home 10 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze finishes thus far this spring.

White Rock Rowing is dedicated to the development of putting oars and opportunities in the hands of youth and adaptive rowers by providing coaching, financial aid, and college scholarships to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to row. We are a community based rowing program offering a variety of rowing opportunities for middle school, high school, masters, adaptive and fitness for rowers and non-rowers alike. We have the first adaptive rowing program in North Texas, and offer the only certified medical and technical classifiers for the assessment and assignment of competition class for adaptive rowers.

Rowing camps for Middle and High School students are now open for registration, check our website at whiterockrowing.org.
