SMU Dean of Engineering Chosen as Next President of Tulsa University

Geoffrey Orsak, dean of the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at SMU, has been chosen to become the next president of Tulsa University beginning on July 1. Orsak will be the 18th school president in Tulsa school history, and he'll have big shoes to fill with the departure of Tulsa University President Steadman Upham.

Orsak was the Dean of Engineering at Southern Methodist University since 2004 and was associate dean from 2001-2004. He began teaching at SMU in 1997 as a professor of electrical engineering. He was a winner of the "M" Award, the most prestigous honor given at SMU. Finally, Orsak was a co-founder of TEDxSMU and TEDxKIDS, which sought to gather and disseminate breakthrough ideas from leaders, artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators and other key thinkers.

SMU has not announced who will be replacing Orsak as the next dean of engineering.
