SMU Police Blotter: Burnt Food Triggers Fire Alarm at Cockrell-McIntosh Hall

OCTOBER 2

Theft
Someone reported a theft at 10:45 a.m. at Express Tower/Park 'n' Pony Office.

Possession of Fictitious License
A student's wallet was found and turned into the police department at 2:11 p.m. at Patterson Hall, and a fraudulent ID was found inside of the wallet, so the student was referred to the Student Conduct Officer.

Theft
A theft was reported at 3:22 p.m. at SMU Bookstore/Barnes & Noble.

Striking Unattended Vehicle
A student's vehicle was reported damaged at 4:03 p.m. in the Law Parking Garage, and no information was left at the scene.

Theft
A student reported at 4:17 p.m. that his sunglasses and SD card were stolen from his backpack at the Umphrey Lee Center/Journalism Department News Room.

OCTOBER 3

Theft
A student reported at 3 p.m. that his laptop was stolen at Fondren Library Center, but he found it later at same location.

OCTOBER 4

Assault
At 4:10 p.m., "a student reported an assault" at the Jenkins Engineering Building.

OCTOBER 5

Possession of Fictitious License/Public Intoxication
A student, who was caught in possession of a fictitious license while intoxicated in public at 1:09 a.m. at Shuttles Hall, was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor
Two underage students who were caught under the influence of alcohol at 1:15 a.m. at Virginia Hall were referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor
An underage student, who was caught possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia and having consumed alcohol at 2:43 a.m. at Mary Hay Hall, was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Furnishing Alcohol to Minors
A fraternity, which was caught furnishing alcohol to minors at 10:53 p.m. in the 3100 block of Binkley Avenue, was referred to the Student Conduct Office and an investigation about the situation is still underway.

OCTOBER 6

Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Failure to Identify
A student, who was cited and transported to University Park Jail for consumption of alcohol while underage and failure to identify at 2:02 a.m. at the Sigma Chi House, was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor/Fire Alarm/University Policy Conduct Violation
An underage student was cited and taken to the University Park Jail for consuming alcohol after being caught at 6:33 a.m. at Boaz Hall. Also, the student pulled a fire alarm, so the student was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
A student was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and taken to Dallas County Jail for having marijuana at 6:13 p.m. at Mary Hay Hall.

OCTOBER 7

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor
An underage student, who was caught having consumed alcohol at midnight at Airline Road, was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Fire Alarm
A fire alarm was triggered by burnt food at 12:15 a.m. at Cockrell-McIntosh Hall, and the University Park Fire Department arrived at the scene and reset the alarm.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor
An underage student, who was caught in possession of alcohol at 12:38 a.m. in the 3000 block of SMU Boulevard, was referred to the Student Conduct Office.

Driving While Intoxicated/Failure to Leave ID/Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle
A student, who was caught driving while intoxicated at 1:50 a.m. in the 3400 block of Rosedale Avenue, was taken to Dallas County Jail. The same student was referred to SMU's Student Conduct Office for having an alcoholic drink in his vehicle and failing "to leave ID and render aid."

Theft
A student's bicycle was reported stolen at 1:37 p.m. at Perkins Hall.

Public Intoxication
A person who is not affiliated with the university was cited for public intoxication then taken to the University Park Jail at 10:19 p.m. on Boaz Lane.
